Nicole & Gabe’s Intimate Backyard Wedding

An intimate backyard celebration of love and connection.  

From my first meeting with Nicole, it was clear she shared my deep appreciation for intentional design and personal storytelling. Walking through her mood board, her value of unique pieces, her love for hosting, and her style was music to my ears. I was so excited to begin transforming these ideas into a reality.  

The details all came together so beautifully. Every element was curated. From custom invitations and save-the-dates, to menus with illustrations of the couple, to ceremony chairs assigned to guests by a handkerchief embroidered with their name. We selected textured linens, vintage furniture, and florals that represented Nicole’s grandmother, mother, and the most special people in her life.  

Just six weeks before their wedding day, the venue called to cancel. It had double-booked their day and could no longer hold their wedding. It was an insane shock, but also a turning point. After researching countless alternatives that didn’t feel “them,” Nicole and Gabe made the bold decision to host their wedding at home.  

Their backyard in Inverness became a blank canvas, allowing their values, style, and love story to be fully expressed without the limitations that usually come with venues. Every space—from ceremony to teatime, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing—was thoughtfully designed on their land.  

Guests were immersed in the moment. Phones were out of sight and conversations carried through the night. During the couple’s first dance, guests joined them happily, no one hesitant to get up and surround them. After curating such a deeply personal celebration, it just made sense. There was no better place to capture this essence than their own backyard.
